The Master of Dental Surgery in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery [MDS(OralMaxFacSur)] is a three-year full-time programme designed to enable candidates to achieve an advanced level of knowledge and competence in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The programme includes a prescribed course of study and a supervised research project. The programme aims to enable students to acquire familiarity with most pathological conditions affecting the mouth and jaws; an understanding of the principles of patient management and experience of in-patient care; basic skills in oral surgery and dental implantology; exposure to a full scope of maxillofacial surgery, including orthognathic surgery, oncology and reconstructive surgery, and the management of temporomandibular disorder.
