The MSc in Substance Use and Substance Use Disorders at Queen's University Belfast is a multi-disciplinary programme for substance use professionals, mental health workers, social workers, nurses, and allied health and social care practitioners. Building on PG Certificate and PG Diploma foundations, the MSc develops critical thinking, reflective analysis, and multi-disciplinary teamworking. Modules cover substance use prevalence and legislation, theoretical frameworks, dual diagnosis, co-morbid mental health disorders, and professional development. The Masters component requires a supervised 12,000-word research dissertation. Teaching is delivered in day-block format on Fridays and Saturdays. Note: this course is not eligible for a Student route visa. Next intake: September 2027.
