It is now well established that there are two-way links between oral diseases and systemic diseases such as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel diseases and endocarditis. Delivery of effective oral health care to promote the overall health of a population continues to be a major challenge to healthcare systems globally.
