The MA in International Conflict Studies provides a critical and nuanced understanding of international conflict and security, combining theory and practice. Students gain advanced engagement with theoretical aspects alongside training in the investigation and analysis of specific cases of conflict, violence, and security. The programme examines the politics of identity, how security influences human rights and migration, and how race, culture and gender intersect with conflict. Students apply analytical lenses including feminism, anti-racism, materialism, and post-colonialism. Based in the Department of War Studies, students benefit from research-led teaching in grand strategy, arms control, migration, cyber, and regional specialisms.
