The MA Applied Linguistics for Language Teaching at the University of York extends knowledge of the processes underpinning language learning. The programme offers two pathways: Applied Linguistics for Language Teaching and for TESOL. It is designed for experienced teachers with at least 12 months of classroom-based teaching experience. Students advance their understanding of applied linguistics research and reflect on new developments in light of their own practical expertise. The curriculum includes four core modules, two option modules and a dissertation of original research. Assessment includes 3,500-word essays, exams, a research proposal and a dissertation.
