The MA Applied Human Rights at the University of York equips students to advocate for change through law, policy and human rights practice. Semester 1 introduces key theoretical and practical elements, cemented by a group placement with a human rights organisation. Semester 2 offers optional modules covering transitional justice, international criminal justice, peace and conflict, and human rights law. Students write a dissertation of up to 12,000 words. A signature feature is two weeks of fieldwork placement in Cape Town, South Africa, or in and around York. Students may also participate in the Peace Lab, Sustainability Clinic, and a Migration Summer School in Thessaloniki, Greece.
