The Master of Museum and Heritage Studies develops a deep understanding of the core historical and theoretical developments in museum and heritage studies, current practice and debates. The program explores how meaning is constructed in museums and at heritage sites through material objects, cultural practices, exhibits, education and public programs. Suited to those looking to bridge the connection between museum and heritage with the public, students examine how people engage with and value museums and heritage, including sites of trauma, commemoration and memorialisation. Students complete core units in managing collections and heritage sites, a capstone unit comprising either an internship project or a dissertation, and elective units.
