The Master of Engineering Science (Geoenergy & Geostorage) at UNSW Sydney is a two-year program bridging geoenergy and petroleum engineering with a focus on sustainable use of the Earth's resources. The program covers carbon capture and storage, seasonal hydrogen or energy storage, geothermal energy, and extraction of heat, energy or saline brines from the earth. It builds on traditional petroleum engineering skills — including reservoir engineering, geomechanics, and environmental science — while addressing the global energy transition. Students explore subsurface characterisation, decarbonisation technologies, and sustainable energy solutions, gaining interdisciplinary expertise spanning geology, engineering, and environmental science to lead the sustainable energy landscape of tomorrow.
