The MPhil in International Peace Studies at Trinity College Dublin immerses students in an interdisciplinary examination of the causes and consequences of war and armed conflict, aiming to understand how sustainable peace can be achieved. Drawing on politics, political science, international relations, philosophy, sociology, ethics, and conflict resolution, the programme covers topics including forced displacement, conflict resolution and negotiation, human rights, the UN and conflict resolution, and gender in war and peace. Students benefit from an internship module, field trips to Belfast and UN Geneva, and guest lectures from experienced diplomats and NGO officials. The programme concludes with a 15,000–20,000 word dissertation on a self-chosen topic.
