The MA Modern Literature and Culture presents a rare opportunity to study the literature and culture of both the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, encountering a broad range of texts from Britain, North America and the English-speaking world. The programme covers Victorian Studies and Modernism, allowing students to think across period boundaries, examining canonical authors such as Dickens, George Eliot, James Joyce and Virginia Woolf alongside lesser-known authors and movements. Students explore texts in novels, poetry and drama alongside Modernist magazines, Victorian periodicals and anticolonial manifestoes.
