The MA in Medical Ethics and Law focuses on the legal and ethical questions raised in the context of medicine. The programme examines debates about consent to treatment, decision-making where adults lack capacity, duties of care, the treatment of children and adolescents, assisted reproduction, abortion, assisted suicide, euthanasia and end-of-life decisions, organ donation, psychiatric ethics, mental health law, criminal law and mental disorder, autonomy and public health, the allocation of scarce resources, reproductive ethics, disability, and global health ethics. The Medical Law pathway focuses principally on legal aspects with the option to study two ethics modules.
