The MA Kurdish Studies at Exeter is a unique course placing the history, politics and culture of the Kurds and Kurdistan at the centre of critical focus. Students investigate major events in Kurdish history, culture and politics, and engage with the evolution of Kurdish studies as a field, including its colonial past. The programme is flexible, allowing students to conduct independent research using Exeter’s unique library and archival holdings. Exeter’s Centre for Kurdish Studies focuses on ethnicity, ethnic conflict, cultural production and memory. The Institute provides state-of-the-art facilities and the Arab World Documentation Unit. Assessment combines essays, presentations and group work, plus a 15,000-word dissertation.
