The MA Islamic Studies at Exeter equips students with research skills and tools relevant to the study of the Middle East, North Africa and the Muslim world, introducing a broad range of key theorists and methodologies across Islamic studies. The programme is broad and flexible, allowing students to tailor it to their particular interests through optional modules covering literature, politics, gender studies, language, media and specific conflicts. The Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies is one of the foremost academic departments in Middle East and Islamic Studies, and home to Europe's most important research collection on the Arab world, including the Arab World Documentation Unit. Assessment combines essays, presentations and group work, plus a 15,000-word dissertation.
