极地研究 MPhil Polar Studies (Scott Polar Research Institute)

The MPhil in Polar Studies provides an understanding of key contemporary research problems across humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences relating to the Arctic and Antarctica. Students undertake original research on a topic selected in consultation with institute staff. The programme consists of a core interdisciplinary element followed by one of two strands: Social Sciences and Humanities, or Natural Sciences. Taught elements including lectures, seminars, and practical sessions take place in the Michaelmas term, while the remaining two terms are devoted to a supervised dissertation closely integrated with ongoing research at the Scott Polar Research Institute. The course is examined through two pieces of coursework, a presentation, and the dissertation.
