产科学与妇科学 MPhil Obstetrics and Gynaecology

This research MPhil in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology covers two broad research areas. The first uses large population samples and datasets to identify predictive features of human pregnancy complications including intrauterine growth restriction, preterm labour, and perinatal death. The second focuses on cellular and molecular aspects of placental growth and its interaction with the endometrium, including immune dialogue between fetal and maternal compartments and genetic and epigenetic modulation of placental function. Modern genomic methods are utilised in both human samples and genetically manipulated animal models. Students conduct an original research project contributing new knowledge to the field.
