The MSc Joint Masters Data Science and AI is an 18-month programme delivered jointly by the University of Birmingham and IIT Madras, offering students a global perspective in data science and cutting-edge research in artificial intelligence. Students divide their studies between both institutions, with two options: the Birmingham-majority option transfers to Birmingham after an IIT Madras semester and industrial placement; the IIT-majority option returns to Madras to complete the research project. The curriculum covers machine learning, algorithms, natural language processing, computer vision, neural computation, evolutionary computation, and intelligent interactive systems, with all students completing a research project and industrial placement. Tuition is split between the two institutions: Option 1 (Birmingham-majority) costs INR 300,000 (IIT Madras) + £10,142 (Birmingham); Option 2 (IIT-majority) costs INR 600,000 (IIT Madras) + £7,245 (Birmingham).
