The MSc Economics at the University of Birmingham trains students in the quantitative methods and analytical frameworks used by professional economists, including impact evaluation, forecasting, policy simulation and large-dataset analysis. Delivered over 12 months full-time, the course comprises 180 credits with three core modules in applied econometrics, macroeconomics and microeconomics, three optional modules, and a 60-credit dissertation. Students may specialise in Behavioural and Experimental Economics, Development Economics, or Environmental and Natural Resource Economics. Teaching draws on faculty from research institutes including City-REDI and the Birmingham Experimental Economics Laboratory.
