The MSc Applied Mathematics at Birmingham prepares a new generation of scientists with advanced applied mathematics skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines. The programme helps students use a strong mathematics background to become multidisciplinary scientists, tackling challenges such as modelling the spread of disease, understanding air turbulence, and modelling crop growth in dry conditions. The School of Mathematics collaborates extensively across disciplines including Biological and Medical Sciences and Chemical Engineering, as well as with industry, with Birmingham positioned as a hub for multidisciplinary Biological Systems Science research near one of Europe's largest super-hospitals.
