The Master of Economics offers rigorous graduate-level training in economic theory, econometrics, mathematics, and statistics, comparable to first-year PhD coursework at top economics departments worldwide. The program requires 96 units comprising compulsory courses in advanced micro and macroeconomic analysis, econometric methods, and mathematical techniques, followed by an advanced concluding component with electives. Students must achieve a minimum 70% weighted average mark in key foundational courses to progress to the second year; those who do not meet this threshold may transfer to the Master of Applied Economics or Master of Economic Policy. The program is available commencing in Semester 1 or Semester 2.
