This programme uses a humanities and social science lens to examine intersecting threats to social, ecological, political, economic, and health systems. It is the only programme in Australia that integrates biological and cultural anthropology to address planetary-scale challenges while foregrounding anthropology's ethnographic method, prioritising grounded, people-focused perspectives. The programme equips students with theories, case studies, and tools for social engagement to understand global crises, their cultural histories, and strategies for a better future. It fosters critical social thought and research, moving beyond crisis narratives to analyse the political and social work that these threats justify.
